The second event that I chose to photograph for the Together Festival was the DJ Agoria, presented by Soundscape at Naga in Cambridge. I picked this show because while I am not a tremendous fan of house music, I enjoyed the variety and style that Agoria has in his sets.
The show started at around 10:45 with two house/local DJ’s spinning. Agoria came to the booth around 11:30 or so. He played a mixture of deep house and hard house which is a little different from what I was expecting based on what I heard on his Soundcloud page – http://soundcloud.com/agoria.
With the location of the booth and type of music, Agoria was much easier to photograph. Also, there was a full complement of lighting, mostly LED, which was a lot of fun to work with. Along with the lighting there were two groups of hanging white plastic pieces that were lit by digital projectors. This created an interesting color palette and constantly changing visual in the ceiling. On the wall there was a huge video screen featuring music visualizer patterns and interweaving live video from the DJ booth.
It was a really great set and a lot of fun to photograph. This was also my last event to cover for the festival. I hope to have the opportunity to do it again next year because I certainly had a blast this time around.
