This past weekend I had the opportunity to photograph an amazing property on the Newburyport waterfront. Situated behind the seawall overlooking Joppa Flats, the restored property had been on the market for several months and needed some help getting more qualified buyers in the front door.

I was referred to this property by Kate Cheney Mhyer of Room Service Staging and Design, a local interior designer and stager, whose work I have photographed on several occasions. She had been brought in to stage the property and felt I could create some stronger images than those already being used for the listing. She had been in over the week before and gotten the house show ready so I had a great starting point. I also had the benefit of a beautiful late summer day with high, wispy clouds and brilliant blue skies. The timing was a little awkward because I ended up having to shoot in late morning until just after noon which meant that the exterior light was harsh but not unmanageable.

The house has many unique features including a huge central chimney with multiple fireplaces on different floors. The floors were beautifully finished and the decor had a variety of styles but it all worked together very nicely. The master bedroom was spacious with a fireplace and en suite bathroom connected by a mirrored wardrobe. The first floor kitchen with a large central island opened into a sitting area and had views of the waterfront through the dining room. It also had sliding doors and windows to the beautiful, trellised patio and garden in the back yard.
